Hi Guys,

I have a nearly stock standard 93 MX and am wanting to change the airfilter for a K & N set up. I have also seen this done with some kind of box to protect the filter from the engine heat. I am in Perth. Can I do this easily with a straight swap over and where can I get these from (the airfilter, connector and box).

Cheers Nicky :D

Great thanks! Have ordered a K & N induction kit from ebay and its on the way from UK. Now looking under the bonnet I think I may have trouble fitting it as it looks like the under bonnet strut bar will be in the way :? Any advise?

Can you put up a picture or link to the kit you ordered and a picture of your engine bay?

Hi,

This is the link below for the kit I have bought. How do I get a pic of my engine on here, I have tried copy and pasting and its not working. Not very good on computers!

Are you going to the Autotest 2moro at the airport?

cheers Nicky

To upload an image...

Go to http://www.imageshack.us and follow the instructions on there. You will see a selection of links you can use to copy and paste on to the forum and the image will appear here. The link you need will start and end or something similar.

I am not at the autotest tomorrow but the guys will welcome you if you go and have a nose around. I am sure that anyone with a similar set up will be more than happy to lift their bonnet and show you what they did.

The boxes or heat shields you have seen are generally home made with some aluminium.

Are there any instructions with your induction kit?

Hope you can open this us picture of my engine.

Yes I have entered tomorrow, it will be my second Autotest, should be fun. Still interested in your opinion on the swaybar getting in the way but will try and ask someone 2moro as well.

Thanks nicky.

eBay seller use generic stock pictures, so until you recieve the item, you'll not know what is actually in the kit.

those 57i kits have alot of fluff that is useless. the filter will fit fine whitout a problem. it's all the other plastic crap that will take playing with.

OK guys,

I have fitted my new K & N filter set up. They supplied some flexable pipe to run from under the filter to the front of the car under the spoiler to supply cool air to the filter. I have done this, see pics. Will it be an advantage to now fit a heat shield/ box to the filter to try block out some of the heat? Cheers Nicky.

You might want to think about making up a heat shield for the extractors or a box/partition for the filter as an open filter will be sucking in a lot of hot air in that position. Here's a heatshield I made up: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rossint/47 ... 062350210/
You can get the material from Supercheap for around $50, comes in a flat sheet.

i'd buy a $30 heat shield from SCA. and more the black plastic duct away from the headers before it melts. run it along the chassis rail to behind the headligh, then go south.
