Cam Position Sensor Oring leak

Hello all,
I replaced the CPS oring but when I was putting the sensor back I had to take off that little cap at the end of the cam so I could locate it, putting a little Curil-T on the bottom of the cap I did that back up tightly and tightened the CPS back into place. I ran the car for a bit then felt underneath and I think there's still a bit of oil leaking or it's residue from before. So I undid the CPS but it wouldn't move easily so I had to undo the cap again then make sure the cps was easy to rotate and then did the cap back up.
Is there a chance that I could've pinched the o-ring with the cap when doing it up initially thus damaging it?
I'm going to run it a bit more to see if it does actually leak oil.
On a side note, is it safe to leave the lower coil pack bolt out, it's the 13mm one that actually bolts into the head. It's a swine to get in and out to say the least.
