What are differences between NA6 & NB6 clutch & flywheel

Postby michael » Sun Feb 13, 2011 4:08 pm

Hi All,

Pardon my ignorance, but can anyone tell me the difference between the above.

Also what year/s is the NB6 and were they sold in Australia.

While I'm on the subject, I'm thinking of installing a lightweight flywheel in a 97 NA8 for road use only. I'm thinking of avoiding using an NA8 style flywheel with increased weight on the perimeter, and using an NA6 type flywheel with NA6 clutch instead. Is there any particular relevance of an NB6 clutch / flywheel in this application. And are there any issues with using either in the NA8 application.

PS. I've read a lot of the threads on the forum about pros and cons of lightened flywheels, but any new insights would be appreciated as well.

Thanks for your help
Michael

NB6 was first produced in 1998, but was not Australian delivered, however you can pickup NB6 motors & parts here. There were also JDM & Euro spec motors: viewtopic.php?f=53&t=45725

If you pm/talk to Danny at MX5 Plus in Brisbane he has an NA6 flywheel and has a NA6 size clutch on his supercharged NA so he would be the best one to discuss, the pros and cons.He also replaces them at a very reasonable price.
