Power steering kits?

I did some research on the forum and I've seen a few threads on putting in power steering and not being a terribly hard job etc.
From what i understant, Boyracer is the expert on this so if you're reading this a hand would be good mate!

The question!
I was wondering if there are any readily accessibly power steering kits with everything needed to fit to a 1990 NA6 MX5. I recently drove one with power steering recently and I was amazed at the difference it made to cornering and correcting an oversteer. It felt a lot easier to manage and lighter in the steering department. I'm looking at buying a set of 15x9 6uls' in the next couple of month and I know the wider track will be a pain without power steering.

I've been on this forum a while now and as such I've seen a lot of power steering items sold on the for sale section. The problem is, I'm not sure exactly what is required! So any feedback on this would be grand and thanks to any contribution.

Give Dave @ MX5 Mania.

He should be able to tell you. He might even have 2nd-hand complete kit available.

As I understand it the power assisted rack has a faster gear ration inside it...less turns lock to lock but increased weight of steering, the power assistance hides this.

I actually dont like the PS in my NA8, a bit vague at speed. I am thinking of depowering it.

Don't know of a kit - best to get one from someone that's depowered & dismantled, but the main things required are:
PS rack;
PS pump & bracket & bolts;
PS pump reservoir & bracket & screws;
PS pump to reservoir fluid lines; &
PS pump to PS rack fluid lines.

An easy conversion but make sure you get the tie rods for the NB P/S as they are a different thread to NA manual. Check out the alignment DIY sites before you start if you want to do everything including return to original alignment.

It is an easy conversion, just make shore you have all the correct bits, there is a difference between na and nb racks in the bolt up to the sub frame ( if I remember correctly) and you will need the brackets that hold the rack to the subframe, as they are different for PS.
