Hi,
I was replacing the cooling system hoses and accidently cut through a power steering pipe which was directly underneath one of the hoses that I never saw
I replaced the damaged hose and refilled the power steering fluid. I ran the engine and turned the steering from lock to lock a few times and checked the level after.
My question is: did I do everything right or is there a correct procedure for doing the power steering fluid ???

AIR BLEEDING
1. Check the fluid level
2. Turn the steering wheel fully to the left and right several times with the engine not running.
3. Recheck the fluid level. If it has dropped, add fluid.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the fluid level stabilises.
5. Start the engine and let it idle.
6. Turn the steering wheel fully to the left and right several times.
7. Verify that the fluid is not foamy and that the fluid level has not dropped.
8. Add fluid if necessary and repeat Steps 6 and 7.

I have found it helps if you raise the front wheels slightly off the ground, makes turning the steering wheel easier.

Putting sheets of newspaper under the wheels is another way to make it easy to turn them.
