There is a video on the differet MX5 engins from Mike's Place.
Not a great lot of detail and US focused
At about the 4.30 min he mentions that Mazspeed used the 99-00 engine over the VVT

I have looked into it and found the '99 bp-4w head to be the best. The bottom ends are similiar. The fatory turbo motor has a couple of good bits in it too, but hard to find. I have a couple of spare '99 motors too.

Is there a website that lays out modification paths for the BP like the above does for the 4age (big and small port) 4agze and 4age 20v ?

What's the difference between the following and which engines best for the purpose of being forced fed ?
Should clarify that opening the engine up to upgrade internals is planned, so can live with a N/A BP if it has more potential due to the heads or the like.

1.8 SVT
1.8 From 98-2000 High Port
1.8

Are there any versions I've missed ?
You missed a BPT from a BG8Z Familia, and the BG and BA Astinas run a same BP as NA8 BP engines.

Not all in the one place as far as I know.

There is details on the difference of the Familia GTX/Laser TX3 BPT engine to the homologation Familia GTR/GTAe BPD engine.

http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=33954 which the info came from http://fordlaser.com/viewtopic.php?t=44821

210HP (155KW I think or there abouts) from the stock BPD engine at the crankshaft. Which isn't bad at for the 1.8L engine from the early 90's & they weren't difficult to extract 300HP from, just the gearboxes didn't like it. The only other consumer sold BP turbo engine to match is the one in the SP. Although few people have reported bent rods though. The BPD has competition forged pistons/rods instead of the stock NA piston/rods like the SP has.

Back in the 90s & earlier turbo engines were generally low compression for bigger boost, where as now it's high compression with lower boost to get quick spool & good torque range instead of waiting waiting thrust back into the seat.
