NB intake pipe onto NA - slight mod needed?

So I have upgraded the pipe,
As you can see with the pics I am having one trouble with one of the mini pipes/hoses that come off it.
so 3 quesions!
1. what does it do?
2. do I need it?
If I do need it - whats the best way to put the hose into the intake pipe?
As you can see with the photos, I have circiled them with my awesome paint skillz hehe
Cheers!
Chris
the first photo has the old NA pipe with the inlet bit for that hose

Chris, it's for cold start - found it needed to be connected to the intake crosspipe otherwise wouldn't run - Here's an old pic of mine:
CIMG0070a.JPG
Merged the two different diameter pipes into one using a reducer & a T junction - or you can put a filter on the cam cover vent & then just connect the TB IAC cold start pipe to the intake crosspipe.
Don't believe you can put a filter on the end of the cold start pipe (& replace both retaining clips to more securable ones), as the IAC seemed to want flowing/ pressurised air from crosspipe.
Btw, have a white hail damaged bonnet from a Clubman if you want it - no paint damage, just lots of dints!

I drilled the intake pipe and fitted an black irrigation pipe elbow that was the same diameter. The elbow has a flare on the end so it seal well on the inside of the pipe. I glued the elbow in with Loctite plastic glue (similar with super glue and also put a seal of black silicon around the join on the outside only. I've been running that setup for about a year now with no problems.
I can take some pics when I get home if you like.

fattima - yeah if you could post a photo too that would be really awesome!
Thanks heaps again guys,
Cheers,

Chris, a temp fix is to use a piece of hose whose OD is close to the ID of the cold start pipe - that way you just feed the narrower pipe into the cold start pipe far enough so that a pipe clamp can be placed over the larger pipe to tighten it around the narrower pipe. Then just connect it to intake crosspipe centre protrusion, & fit a filter to the cam cover breather - no T piece or reducer required.

Twenty cent fitting from Bunnings, maybe not that elegant but works. Sorry for the dodgy phone pic.

Good stuff Chris!
No probs re bonnet - when I read you were after a white one, thought might as well let you know have hail damaged one sitting in the garage, even though logistics wouldn't have been simple.
