Hey guys,
So over the past week Rhy's and Jason from mx5 plus have been putting me together a custom exhaust made to my specs and what they have come up with is truly amazing i reckon.
The specs on it atm are 4 - 2 -1 headers, high flow stainless cat, 2.5" mid pipe section followed by lobster weld rear section including a resonator and muffler. The exhaust is really loud atm but im in the works with putting a muffler into the mid pipe.
Pics are as follows.
As you can see from the pics it looks awesome.
I highly recommend them for any type of work including custom stuff. Im wrapped with the outcome.
Pm me for any details if u want. cheers

Looks really good but aren't exhausts normally made out of 1 piece bent to shape as opposed to lots of sections welded together in order to make it as smooth as possible inside.
The welding looks first class though,

can be either really.. alot of high end japanese tuners use lobster weld sections so it much have a benefit.
Take this for example. the tomei cusco wrx time attack car has a lobster weld rear section to.

Yeah that's what I thought but looking at those pics oh that looks AWESOME! I'd go for that over Mandrel Bents for looks
And the welds look awesome too!

I forget the reason why japs weld in joins but I think it's something to do with a lack of mandrel bending machines.
I dont see why it's better than mandrel bends

I always thought that "lobster welds", were for tight bends that Mandrel bending can not do??
But i am in no way 100% on this.
Wouldnt Lobster welding be way more costly due to cutting and welding all those pieces of material?
Does look very nice though.!! sounds HOT!!!!!
-Very RSR

for that section to go into the hole in the brace, it was easy to lobster weld to get it right where i wanted it.
Mandrel bending wouldnt have worked with what we/i wanted.

If you've got the right equipment a mandrel bend will be far easier to get 100%. Conversely 'lobster' bends can be achieved by almost anyone with some welding talent, but take a hell of a lot more work to get perfect.
A few years ago we built our exhaust headers for our uni race car like this. Cleaning the inside was a bitch but it was possible with the equipment we had, so was therefore our best option.
Basically, once the inside is perfectly clean there will be bugger all difference between the two manufacturing techniques, just how you get there requires two very different methods.

Haha cheers.. It was expensive but when u look at it in the flesh it is so worth it just for the looks it self.
I can't wait to give it a good drive to see how it goes
but the weather has to be good for that lol

Not sure about the explanation as to why JDM tuning shops not using loster welds is due to not having access to a mandrel bending machine... Pitcrew Racing's exhausts use lobster welds (and they are stupidly epic and expensive). I'm sure their shop could EASILY afford one of these machines - yet they stick to the lobster welds
. Basically, Pitcrew Racing exhaust + RSR exhaust = This
