I am getting a torsen 2 centre for my nb8a today, can anyone recommend anyone to install it? Looking for someone who will do a proper job but not too expensive as I am a student on a budget

Or, how hard is it to DIY?

i'd say its pretty hard to DIY if its the centre. you need the write tools to marry up the crown and pinion.

unless you're a mechanic by nature its something i wouldn't attempt on my own

Thanks sliq but it turns out it includes the housing just without the rear, i will post pics later. This should be easy enough to diy right?

Having seen the instructions on miata.net Im still trying to decide whether to buy tools im missing (micrometer, Dial Indicator and Magnetic Base, bench vice) or take it a shop. I know Okibi has previously recommended Steve Lee at KY automotive for MX5 work, going to find out how much that will cost me first.

The diff ratio is 4.3 compared to my standard 4.1, how do I alter the speedo sensor? Or do I have to replace it?

If you live anywhere near the hills I can give you the number of the guy who fitted mine and did an excellent job and a lot cheaper than I expected. he does quite a lot of work for the rally fraternity.

I used a diff specialist on O'conner, I haven't broken it yet so perhaps they did a good job.

Steve Lee did my Cusco diff install, and all up including a service it was $500ish. Hope that gives you the ball park figure you're after.

Thanks guys. Went to Steve at KY Auto today, $320 for the swap plus $35 for oil. Havent had a chance to check the speedo with a GPS, should there be a difference? New diff ratio is apparently 4.3, speedo was bang on perfect before because of the 16" wheels

For the speedo drive grab the dríven gear out of an NA6 box, as they are 4.3 stock. I did that when I swapped to a 4.3 torsen.
