Car stalls after long high speed drive

Hi troops.

Have a fairly perplexing one. In short if I've been driving for a long time at high speed (eg. 100k for an hour). When I come to a near stop it almost stalls or in some cases dies and I have to restart the motor. If I'm driving around town it's fine, it's just the really long trips and coming down in speed quickly. I though it might be the gears but I recently had all the plates replaced and it's still the saem.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Possibly throttle position sensor. I've seen a number of NA6 TPS's go bad.

Back again. Thought I'd give an update. Well the problems still persisting, but now with a small change.

Took it to the mech's and they ran a test on the TPS, the 02 sensor came back with an error, so they reset it and they read no further errors. Car also had a service and was incredibly low on oil (which I thought was odd as I'd topped it up not so long ago and being on a concrete driveway you'd think I'd see any leaks if it had some).

Anyway took it on a 250km trip around Vic (Shepparton, Rushworth, Euroa, Seymour, Broadford, Heathcote, Bendigo) the other day and for the 1st time after a long journey it didn't idle dip or stall out at a stop...but.

The following day back in Bendigo on a 'short' trip this time around town it happened again repeatedly. 1st things 1st, went straight to the mech's, got him to jump in and we took it for a small drive...of course the car had to work fine then didn't it? Aaaargh.

So we ran a tps check again and found no errors.

So my thought is would it be worth replacing the 02 sensor issue I've been reading a bit about on here for idle dip issues and should it also reduce my oil burning out so quick?

Spark plug leads?

Nope had new leads (and spark plugs) fitted a few weeks prior to the new clutch plates, and the issue had been happening prior to that change.

Gas tank vacuum? Vapor lock?

Try removing your gas cap and see if it still happens.
