Just cracked my radiator on my NA6, need to get a replacement ASAP

My problem is i live in townsville which is not mx-5 friendly, instead of ordering a new one, i'm hoping to head to a wreckers tomorrow.

Question:

What other vehicles/ models/ mazda or ford, can i grab a replacement radiator from for the time being? or will i have to order one in?

Thanks Meta

If your able to do some modification to them, you could probably use quite a few various radiators. I've seen a Commodore radiator in an MX-5, it was converted to a rotary engine though.

Had a look around & it seems the OEM Koyo radiator part number A1139 (Manual) or A1140 (Auto) in the NA6 wasn't used in any other non MX-5 car. Perhaps a bit surprising actually.

I would go to a radiator repairers to see what the options are. A secondhand radiator may be buggered.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies

after looking around, i have to agree super, this would be alright if i still lived in newcastle, however, townsville is not mx-5 friendly especially when it comes to mods, which leads me to think morlock, that even if i was to approach a radiator place for repairs, i doubt they'd be much help as the part that is broken/ cracking is the plastic where the hose connects, so basically the top of the radiator is splitting, not good

Thanks for your help guys, unfortunately, i'll have to wait it out and order off ebay for a replacement :(

if its only the top tank thats damaged while the core is good, then the radiator workshop should just be able to put a new top tank on..

might as well have them clean out the tubing between the fins while at it.
