Na6 LSD Modification

hey guys,

So as not to hijack my other recent thread Id like to ask another seperate question here.

Along with my new engine clutch and 6 speed, Ive installed an na6 lsd, what type of lsd is this?

Can it be shimmed?

Ive just done the new setups first hillclimb (mgccn's state championship round just north of newcastle) and the car performed very well (just half a second of the classes lap record, and on adrenaline re001's worn past the indicators where the record was set by a 1.8 on proper track only semi slicks) but the inside tyre was still unloading more than i would like around on particularly tricky steep uphill hairpin. Can this be changed or not?

Thanks,
Dann

The diff would be a torsen type, but I don't know if it can be adjusted.

unlikley

Torsen only fitted NA8 diffs. unless he had a 1.8 diff conversion.

could be the type NA6's came with. which required some hydrolic liquid or something.

If it's a 1.6 diff it's likely to be the viscous LSD or of you're lucky the Mazdaspeed LSD which I think is a 1.5 way clutch type.

As STM says it's almost certainly not a TorSen unless it's a 1.8 diff and you've swapped over your tailshaft and half shafts.

AFAIK its just a standard 1.6 diff not the mazdaspeed one. Looks like any other factory 1.6 lsd. These cant be shimmed like a nissan diff?

If you want to do hillclimbs you will need a proper clutch type LSD... A torsen or 1.6 viscous type diff won't work because as soon as the wheel gets a bit of air it will just wheelspin

Not im my price range atm for a new diff, dont get me wrong the car is competitive, next outing if i can shave of just a couple of tenths, the under 2 litre record is mine at the local track, but it seems I will need to change it eventually. I didnt realise na6 diffs were viscous. Is the only good way to get a clutch lsd through using a 1.8 housing and gears with japanese aftermarket internals? Or is there an rx7 rear end swap you can do?

Thanks,
Dann
