Hey everyone,
I just got a F1 racing chromoly flywheel for my NB and i noticed that when i try to put the pressure plate onto the flywheel, the dowels on the flywheel don't fully line up or go through the holes in the pressure plate. Is this normal? (EDIT: Only one goes through and the other 2 wont, although they look like they will)

Looking back at wun's installation of his new clutch and flywheel, they seem to sit flush.

The pressure plate is an exedy oem replacement that came with the clutch kit.

Thats odd the three dowels should line up properly and fit together quite easily.

Mine was flush, however I have heard of other flywheel clutch combos that need a small spacer between the pressure plate and flywheel (if installed without the spacer cluch will never disengage)

Try and put your old clutch cover plate over your new flywheel??? Did you get an NA clutch maybe?? They are slightly smaller could explain why it doesnt quite line up??

I haven't got the old clutch out yet, but it's certainly the 1.8L clutch kit (same part numbers).

I'm thinking it's the f1 racing flywheel.

I guess I'll be doing some filing to make it fit.

I think it'd shake the s#*t out of your driveline if you didn't get it perfectly centred.

There might be a slight burr on the dowel holes

you describe either a mismatch or a difference in size between the pins on the pressure plate or the hole(s) in the flywheel. The holes on the flywheel should be precision drilled for correct location of the pp. The PP should also have the dowel / pins in the correct position. The hole size in the flywheel should have the correct interference for the size of the pin. You can take some measurements and do some checks with known diameters eg drill bits to see what is the restriction- you can check the pin on the pp quite easily with a micrometer or vernier. You might even need to take it to a clutch specialist for comment.

Found out that it needs a bit of force to get them all in as Russellb said.
