idle problem

I have a 1998 nb and the idle jumps around.I believe it is fitted with obd software from the factory and wanted to know if its possible to adjust the idle without pluging the car into a scanner of some type.

I believe so - pretty sure the NB8A ECU clears error codes & resets after you disconect the battery & press the brake pedal a few times. Then take the car for a short run & follow the idle reset procedure in the following:
