Best Fuel to use
Hi Everybody I have just bought a 93 MX5 1.6 and I am new to the MX5 world. I have filled it with 95 Premium fuel and have had a full service last week changing all oils and fluids, plus sparkplugs. The service centre suggested that I use 98 Premium. What are your feelings about using this fuel. This is my project car, I got it for my wife of course. "Oh" by the way I do have a Diesel V8 Turbo Landcruiser and I run it on Premium Diesel but I love driving the Mazda. Any advice on modifications would be great as well.

The NA engines (1600 & 1800) were designed to run on 91 RON. E10 is not recommended.

You'll find there has been a lot of discussion about this topic in this forum if you do a search. But as a general consensus, most people here use 98 octane fuel like, V-Power and Optimax.

91 or 95 will work fine if you're just running standard timing and compression. Most people here do the 14deg timing bump for a bit more low range power. If you do that then it helps to use 95 RON or, in some caes, 98 RON.
Mods? The first mod is always a good wheel alignment. The second is good tyres. Everything after that is optional, more expensive and less benefit.
