Mine's gone AWOL so I need a new one - can these be had aftermarket anywhere? I will try Mania in the morning, but open to suggestions from the forum. I also need to get a set of injectors serviced and O ringed somewhere around Penrith area - anyone had any experience in that area? last two hurdles on my rebuild saga... engine is running beautifully on a borrowed sensor, and I can't wait to drive it!

BD,
MX5 parts UK sell the genuine Mazda one cheaper than Mazda Aus. It'll take 5 or so working days to get here though.

good news BigDog.
why is the Manual so Useless?
As far as the injectors go, might be time to give Josh a call. He's probably got contacts in the Penrith area. If you need Josh's mobile send me an PM. He's not with wholesale suspensions anymore.

Thanks all - UK have several weeks wait on these as they are out of stock. Moss want frightening money in the US so it looks like Mania or West End for me. I will give Josh a call in the morning re the injectors.

well if its only $150 for a Mazda one.....might be worth paying the extra few $
also I was under the impression it was the crank sensor......not the Cam sensor. Or Maybe I should just have my ears de-waxed.

Nope, you heard me correctly - I thought it was the crank sensor as Dave had tried my Cam sensor in his car and it worked fine - then. Unplugging it again must have been the straw that broke the proverbial, as he tried it again today and it was cactus, and putting his in mine fired straight up. I will have a really good look at it and see if I can repair it - the connector hangs off the side of the sensor and breaks off when you insert the plug too firmly without supporting the connector - mine's been broken ever since I've owned the car but it finally cried enough yesterday.
As to the manual, I have a disk based NB8A manual, doesn't have the VVT stuff in it hence my stuff up on the timing. I really should invest in a decent manual someday (he says after the event!).

I just had the cam position sensor replaced on my 2001 model which has about 84K kms on the clock.
I related on an earlier thread how the engine malfunctioned on warm days in traffic.
Cost at Eurocars at Artarmon was $180 plus labour. They got all prissy about the fact that I'd received and was acting upon advice garnered on the internet! Notwithstanding that I'd paid them previously to work out what the problem was and they couldn't.
It looks like a reasonably simple installation so wait for something cheaper.
PS the car performed flawlessly in this arvo's Sydney peak hour.
