I have one that is a Projecta brand. I got it from Battery World 4-5yrs ago. It was about $50ish if I remember right.
It comes with a lead that connects to the battery which has a quick release plug that connects to the trickle charge unit and the plug to the power point.

I bought a solar charger from Repco a few years ago for $29.95 - I have had it connected to a spare battery at my parents home for the past 2 years with the solar panel (around the size of a standard number plate) sitting in the garage window catching the afternoon sun.
I use it to start up my old Alfa Romeo every now and then and it is always perfectly topped up.

Yup I got one of those for the 121 the other week, planning on getting one for the spitfire and the bike.
I have a one of these I swap between cars to keep the batteries topped up
http://www.projecta.com.au/catalogue/cid/3/asset_id/15They come with one vehicle harness as well as alligator clips, I ordered 2 more harnesses but the quality is crap and I made my own.
For example I have a plug next to the licence plate on the motorbike so I don't have to take the seat off to charge the battery.

It's not a dry cell battery, just a sealed cell battery.
As long as the charger can sense the battery level and not overcharge it, it should be OK.
