Initial impressions:
The stainless steel cat-back looks fantastic, and uses a y-pipe for smoothest flow of gases into its dual canisters. I have not heard other MX5 exhausts, but i would say this is not dramatically different compared to stock for the main, certainly low down in rev range. However, this sounds like a sports exhaust. It is MUCH deeper in tone significantly and much smoother than i was ever really expecting. The smoothness and the notes it produces in combination with revs are just amazing. No hints of raspiness nor drone. The main characteristics are deep, smooth and eagerness to rev. It should deepen in character once it carbons up somewhat, so should sound even better. I am yet to install a new intake (Autoexe), but already the car is significantly more responsive. I wouldn't expect any power gains, but it simply has removed some hesitation, particularly between gear changes.
in short, I couldn't be happier, every note is sweet and only sings on song when you want it to.
I will try to get some video/audio pics ...but here are some pics (last 3 in set)

I tracked it down online at a store called BD4s http://www.bd4s.com.au/Site/Home.html. I got it for $1100, which while not cheap was better than the $1700 everybody else wanted! I think he had a clearance going, this might have been last one for the NC he had.

crikey!!

I must admit I was fairly paranoid it would be at least raspy or drony. It's usually very hard to get a really nice note which minimises these issues on low litre engines, particularly NA. You only have to search the forums on how many people are unhappy with most exhausts for the NC and end up going back to stock. I think HKS have done an amazing job getting this exhaust just right.
