SP Injectors

Postby RobH » Mon Jul 06, 2009 2:58 pm

Hi guys,

Can anyone confirm for me what size injector was used on an SP? I have heard that they were from a volvo parts list so a part number would be fantastic as well!

I am trying to work out if new injectors are going to be necassary when I install the new ECU.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Just to give you an idea of how small the stock SP ones are - we up the racers to 580cc...just to make sure we can get enough fuel. :)

Does this mean the ones in the SP as standard are around 265cc?

I've always thought the SP injectors are identical to the standard NB8B.

I thought they upped the size to 328cc for the SP. There's a guy in Melbourne currently selling 18 sets of them on ebay. NB ones are light purple, these are light blue.

I was under the impression they were bigger than the stock NB8B Hammer. No idea where they came from though. I took mine out to be cleaned last December but I cant remember what colour they were.

I spoke with Al Dennis at Max Kirwan's this morning and he has confirmed recently with Chiptourque in Nerang that the SP injectors were 7MGE 303cc's.

mmmm, good news, I was just speaking with my mechanic mate and he has wrx blue body 425cc injectors sitting around doing nothing so they have been earmarked for my car. Now I just need to sort out a connection from the ECU to the car and we're in business

These are the ebay ones. I bought a set from him last year and they were genuine 265cc NB8B in perfect nick. They're a good update for an NA8, being roughly the same capacity but better units all round. They make a difference, especially to low speed tractability.

He says these are the bigger SP ones - you'd need to do a bit of research to confirm what you're getting first.

I have my original SP injectors in front of me, and can confirm that they part number 23250-70080 which a quick google search confirmed to be NipponDenso injectors off the Toyota Supra 89-92 7MGE 305cc – Light Green Top.
These are out of their depth beyond around the 160kw mark from memory...
I believe the ones I am running are around the 460cc mark... fine for around a 180 kw tune, and should be able to do a bit higher without issues (I think these are the same as BJ's injectors unless he has gone bigger again in the big HP hunt...)

Cheers,
Dave
