http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49kETjPZP9YI think there is a flaw in the methodology, the test doesnt allow the oil to break down its additives over time, to determine whether not this has any bearing on performance.

Interesting, although it is not a pure scientific test I have used Mobil in the past but have recently switched to the same Nulon as per the dyno test, my personal observation is that my engine is running very quiet with none of the cold start lifter noise that I have experienced with other oils. That may or may not change over time as I have only had the oil in the engine for 2 weeks now.

Wouldn't the thinnest oil make the most horsepower (least resistance in the engine)?

From what I understand all the viscosities of the different brand oils were the same 5-30w.
However, if they were different; you would be measuring power over protection.

Methodology is flawed.
1. 5 new engines should be "run in" using a control oil to 1000km. Each oil should be then measured for performance on an engine dyno @ 1000, 3500 & 6000km. Obviously this is beyond the capability of a local tune shop.
2. The technician should not know which oil should be going in, it should be double blind and random.

Totally agree here. I would never buy an oil based on its 'ability' to increase horsepower. I would buy one based on its ability to protect the engine...
