OBX Camshafts, good, bad or plain ugly?

Postby mr_rotary » Sun May 10, 2009 1:47 pm

Time to open a can of worms

With the conversion rate getting better by the day again, it's hard to not go past some more fast parts!
For a long time I have wanting to upgrade the cams.
Over the years I heard many mixed reports on the OBX camshafts and read the reports on the big forum.
However lately when viewing the seller's on E-Bay, they are now offering a 'Lifetime warranty against all manufacturer defects'.

Now if a seller is stating such a comment, surely the manufacturer must of changed the specs of the cams to make it a better product?
At a third the price of HKS or other name brand camshafts, it's mighty hard to go past these items!

Anyone here had FIRST HAND experience on how good/bad these cams really are? (Not chinese wispers)
Have they changed from the past?
Or am I going to be the guinea pig

"If you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it "guaranteed" I will..."

You asked this two years ago http://mx5cartalk.com/phpBB-3.0.2/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=24952&hilit=obx+cams...
No one used them then, no one uses them now.... doesn't that speak volumes?

Correct and good observation sherlock.
Since then as stated, they now offer the warantee.
Back then, the problems seemed to be the build quality, too soft a metal and something that is easily fixed.

I too can post links from the web
What I want to know from people who have had EXPERIENCE using these is what's wrong with the current batch?
What was your first hand experience using these?
