Hi, welcome to the forum.

From a performance point of view changing the muffler on the SE will give you very little gain if any. Gain lies with changing the downpipe, cat & mid pipe.

Hi Batmobile.
Where are you based?

If you just want an aural improvement, get any muffler shop to change from axle back with generic high flow sports muffler.
You will find that makes very small difference with the SE.(due to Turbo muffling resonance)
Then get them to swap out the Cat with a High Flow cat (maybe $300).
This will help with sound and added throttle response.

PS Throw up some pics of your car

As a general rule a smaller muffler will be louder than a bigger one.

As long as you tell the them what you want to achieve, any exhaust shop should be able to sort you out. However, as you are in Canberra, drop past Carco and have a chat. They are nice blokes and will help you out.

I would preferrably save my pennies and go for something built with quality. I and a few other forumites have smb exhausts. Even though the price is a bit steep, it has been dyno proven, has a nice raspy sound, and it has made my car feel more responsive. It was only a cat back however. I am yet to upgrade my cat to a hi flow metal cat (have other priorities right now).

SMB also manufacture kits for SE's. It would be worth giving them a call. Or wait around for a club meet and have a listen there.
