A few Turbo Build Questions

OK, been mulling over a few turbo thoughts, and wonder if you guys have anything to offer.

Im thinking my new motor will have forged rods but stock pistons. (Because i know how banana shaped stock rods can go!)

Im shooting for 150 - 180kw flywheel, do you reckon the stock pistons will cope with this OK?

What are people's favored manifold & downpipe choices? - I am willing to spend a fair chunk on this, as i don't want it to crack!
I Like the look of the shiny tubular BEGi, ones, but dunno if they are any good.

Thinking a good condition used T28BB Turbo, this seems to be good for the power levels im looking at without being super laggy, and they are available for a good price 2nd hand.

Realisticly, what sort of injectors do i need for this power level?

Im sure i could find some of this in other places, so don't bother telling me to look at turbomiata etc. im already searching them

Edit: Oh, and for those who have not been following my build - i already have a wolf 3d

I would not even bother changing the rods at that power level, I don't really see the point unless you are going to do the pistons too. You might find more info on mt.net but I think the pistons have a tendancy to break ring landings before the rods will be an issue, assuming it is an na not an nb.

As far as turbo goes, alot of people refer to turbos as t25, t28 etc, which usually is either too broad or completly inaccurate as a label. You should have a look at the turbobygarret.com tech section and also the products section to get an idea of what size to be looking at, but I would be suggesting gt2554 to gt2560 range for a fairly stock engine and still reasonable response.

As for manifold/dump I don't really have too much to suggest as I just made my own. I do like the look of the ETD shorty however.

Thats just my 2c, I am sure there will be more people out there with more ideas/opinions.

Tim

OK, Cheers.

Turbos I am looking at are used off Silvias Aus (t25) and JDM (t28), So i had better find out what sort of specs they are!

Yeah, that looks a bit shonk.

And yes, I should have a better look in the turbo section.

Here be the specs on the T28 I was considering

Compressor: T-28, 60 trim 60 mm 0.64 A/R BCI-1 compressor in T-04B housing
Turbine: T-25, 62 trim 53.8mm 0.60 A/R turbine housing.

I know what it all means, but not what it means for me, sure a lower A/R spools better and all that, but im not really sure how it applies to matching it to my motor.

The garrett website was somewhat helpfull, perhaps i should dive into some compressor maps and try and learn
