Just a question for any NC owners that do their own oil and filter changes.

I know this sounds stupid but I can't find the filter or sump plug on my NC.

Under the car....... there is a plastic guard that covers the void forward of the radiator. Behind this is a metal guard which I removed to reveal the bottom of the gearbox (auto)..... but no sump plug.

If the car was on a hoist the search would be less difficult but I'm working on my back will limited clearance.

Any instructions greatly appreciated.

Is that the plastic cover I mentioned that lives in front of the radiator? If so, will make the job a lot easier.

No, you don't remove the plastic cover.

Remove the metal cover plate (see attached) to get at the oil filter and drain plug.

Check to see if your owners manual gives you info. Since you are not familiar with diy basic techniques either pay someone to do it for you or look for a knowledgeable friend or a short course to show/teach you basics. There is plenty of written info in libraries on servicing cars. Bear in mind that servicing your car is more than just changing oil and the filter.

Glad you dont have to take off that flowering plastic cover with all it's stupid twist clip things. It'd be the best part of an hour's work just removing the cover.

You are correct about consulting a knowledgeable friend. I usually consult with my son who is a qualified motor mechanic.
As he recently moved to Cairns I now consult with my knowledgeable friends on this forum.

Please consider that assumptions about peoples' DIY abilities are just that....assumptions... and not necessarily facts.

Didn't see you at Coffee 'n Lies this morning. Only a small (but cosy) turnout today.

Not being able to find either the filter or the sump plug gave the impression of a rank novice. My remarks were based on that assumption. Some people do not even understand the basics and some are reluctant to do any research of their own. Whilst there is excellent advice and knowledge on show on this forum there is also information provided that it neither sound nor considered and the "novice" may not know the difference.

Don't want to be boring but I can see the lighter side of my efforts to locate filter/plug.

As I am now over the new car "honeymoon" with my NC I thought I'd start doing intermediate oil and filter changes.
Oil change planned for next weekend but I thought I'd do a quick "reccy" under car first to save time next weekend. As I thought this would be routine I didn't jack car up as high as I should have. From my positioning under passenger side of car the filter was obscured and almost directly over my head so I didn't see it. Also' plug was on right side of sump and not in my line of sight.

A quick call for help on the forum provided the required info.
