The N*power mufflers are very good, cheap too! Alot of people on this forum have them and i beleive they are quite happy.

The note they give off is very clean, PM Hot Rodders, he has one on a stock NB8A, he should be able to point you in the right direction.

Also i should mention, James @ Mx5 Center Stocks these http://www.mx5center.com.au Not sure if they are listed on his site but i know he has them in stock. He is in Moorabbin and is open saturdays.

they are a replica of the racing beat power pulse which are top mufflers, though a tad quiet if you are looking for a louder note.

I have one, they are good.

Not too loud, not too soft, maybe leaning to the softer side compared to say fart cans out there.

AS said they are a replica of the Racing beat Power pulse, which is known to be a quiet exhaust already.
Though, once you get a bit of heat through them, after prolong periods of drives, they do get louder as well.

No downsides, just cheap and good quality, and works. As it's an axle back, so it's mainly just for sound.

For $200 for the npower + get a midpipe made up ($200 ish?)= $400-$500, should be able to get a happy medium of power and sound.

I've been lookin at the IL motorsport one on mx5parts, they command a huge premium :S Any one have any exp with them? The single outlet one btw.

But to hazard a guess, with +center pipe+ muffler +new cat= maybe 10kw?

I didn't feel any extra power from the npower muffler, but it definately made it more responsive, it freed up the system more, the stock muffler is restricted.

To remove the hangers off, yes you need to swear.
Try some dish washing liquid, using a syringe squeeze them into the rubber hangers holes and the exhaust hangers should slide off.

IL motorsport looks to be the same as the RB copy, save yourself some money, rather than buying from Denmark + freight fees + waiting to get it delivered also ending up costing more. $250 delivered anywhere in Australia is a bargain imo. (also supporting our sponsor)

also you could try JDM exhaust? plenty available for the NA.

Wow 350 pounds, that would probably cost you $1000+ landed in Australia.

Well first of all you have the npower axle back $250 + get a midpipe made up you can keep your existing cat. which is your cheapest option, and would be medium level of loudness.

Or for JDM exhaust, there are plenty available, with varying degrees of loudness.

All Buddyclub exhaust are LOUD, especially buddyclub spec II which is just essential a "street straight pipe".

You have your usual Greddy, HKS, Fujitsubo.

and your exoticJDM specific to mx5s/roadsters- K1-racing, Integral Kobe, Car make's corn, Pitcrew racing, Zoom engineering etc etc etc.

Just depends on your budget.

WD40 worked a treat on mine. stick a small screwdriver in to help lever off the barbed ends.

Ive had one for a couple of years now. Im quite happy with mine it still works etc. Same weight as stock etc.

that's fairly heavy.

the smb one i have is smaller and definitely at least 1-2 kilos lighter than the oem one.

I belive stock is around the 9.5 kg mark.

I dont think there is a huge performance gain everything on my car (NB8B) is stock excpet the N power muffler and it only made 80 rw kw.

Well during vic dyno day, Stevesports car made 10 rwkw more than Wun. The main difference is he has mid pipe with highflow cat and cheap pod filter. So 10 rwkw for exhaust mod is very much achievable, rear muffler prob just make around 2-3 rwkw, what's important to invest in high Flow cat when you do your mid pipe.

I believe or my theory is:

muffler alone is 3 kw.

a pod alone is like 3 kw

but a pod + muffler + cat is like + 10 kw.
