Should I be worried?
I went up Mt Cootha (for those that know) thru the back where Channel 10 ABC is not the lookout way
Anyway I went up Mt Cootha in 3rd gear doing erh cough speed limit around the 4000-5000rpm if i recall correctly
stopped infront of ABC had a look under my bonnet and i noticed a bit of the extractor was glowing red
not the whole extractor but where the extractors go from 4 to 2
Should I be Worried?
My factory water temp gauge was sitting where i usually sits

Just keep that aircon line away from it.
Ask me how I know

, or, better still, don't...

4-5000rpm in 3rd equates to 50km/hr??!!

You must have one very low diff ratio there!!

No problem.....glowing red is normal when you work the engine hard at, er, cough, legal speeds, cough.
There is a classic advert from the very early seventies of the E49 Hemi six pack (245cubes with 3 x 45mm Webers) on the dyno in italy as they tuned the webers and the extractors were bright red. They only made 140 E49s, try finding one now.

See I'd expect it on a turbo car or on a dyno when there's no airflow at all. However going up a hill on just 4000-5000rpm. I've ran the car for 20 minutes at a time on the track and not seen any glow. That's never going below 4500rpm the whole time either. Usually the glowing infers a turbulent spot I thought.....

At a track you tend to be doing higher speeds for the revs than on a mountain. High revs + low airspeed = hot. Probably nothing to worry about.

headers are wrapped, if the heat can't dissipate then its going to get allot hotter, unless they are stainless i wouldn't be to worried

yep there wrapped with DEI branded stuff
there mild steel
when i got my exhaust done the exhaust shop said he doesn't recommend stainless on extractors because they crack due to heat etc etc
so i went the mild steel and stainless the rest
i shoulda HPCed it :[
anyone know how much it cost
i just don't like the down time :[
