What headers are people using for the NB?

I've had a look at autoexe/maximworks one, but are there any other "good" ones?

edit: And another question, do NA8 headers fit NB8?

I put NB Xforce headers on my NA8 and they had to be given a bit of a tweak to avoid fouling the bell housing, so the answer is really no!

The XForce were surprisingly efficient by the way,haven't had any improvement when i replaced them with Racing Beat 4;1.

EDIT NA8 and NB8 systems are different as the headers are not the same length so you would also need to adjust the exhaust from the header flange back if you were using the incorect headers on top of any issues you have with clearance.

heya philz, i'd go for the 4-1 racing beat headers.. they're hard to find in aus like the autoexe and maximworks, so you'd havta ship it in straight from the US i'd say.

have you already got a cat back? because if you haven't, i'd advise going for a cat back first before looking at some headers. there's more of a noticeable difference, and if you're looking to squeeze every ounce of power from the car, that's when i'd be looking for headers.

I have some NA 1.8 headers I was going to try and fit on the NB, dunno when i'll have the time and money.

cant really beat the racing beat 4-1's on bang for your buck (when the dollar was good), this is what i plan on running.

while we are at it, does anyone know who else makes 4-1 headers for the mx? i have not found much in my searching, only pitcrew (which are damn expensive, and racing beat)

Sliq I just have an Npower/Racing beat copy muffler, so still have a stock midpipe, cat and headers, but will be replacing them all as well.

I've had a look, and as always NA have a more larger JDM range.

I've been looking at AR-F, quite expensive, but look porn with the high mounted spaghetti, and is also similar to the Pitcrew headers.


Racing beat is nice but I would be looking at probably $1100 delivered.

guess I'll have to wait for a nice used maximworks header to pop up.

that does look pretty hardcore! i didnt bother looking into them though, whats the specs, pricing on them?

are you planning keep the car n/a? if your not just get the npower headers, 2.25 mild steal midpipe and done.

I have MaximWorks/ AutoExe on my NB.
NA8 have different angle on the end of the header, custom mod is needed to make it fit. I remembered a while back someone here fitted one on his NB, Becareful with the gearbox clearance as well.

Most quality header is over $1K, prob even more considering the exchange rate nowdays. In term of performance gain ...it's minimal, especially in NB8B.

If you do get headers, make sure you get it coated to reduce engine bay temp.

frame them up after you're done with them AB7, they're a masterpiece.

sorry for thread hijack, but have you (AB7) tuned your car with jolt's ecu? how'd your car run afterwards?

i have a set of na8 headers on my car they didnt meet up with the old exhuast system though.. which didnt bother me as i was changing it anyway. pretty ssure the ports are the same though

Thanks irwin83R, very good to know, as this opens up many other NA8 headers.

As I still have the stock midpipe and cat, I could get one fabricated to suit the NB muffler back.

just reiterating what Peter has stated above.
I am currently running NB XForce headers on my NA8.
Mine clears the bell housing with no problems once you remove the original NA8 header mounting bracket.
I had a cat delete pipe fitted as an interim measure so that the NB extractors would mate with my original exhaust but a cat was fitted
when I had the custom exhaust made.
I am extremely happy with the XForce headers. The primary pipe diameter is quite chunky (read: large) and the quality of construction cannot be faulted.
And it looks damn sexy too!!
So this is a thumbs up for XForce headers.

This morning we put LeonW's immaculate 60000 klms NB8A on a Dyno Dynamics dyno and it made 72RWKW completely stock and with spot on A/F ratio.This dyno has my car at 89.5RWKW when it has previously made 94 so I don't think it is agenerous one!I

It is now at Town and Country exhaust getting my old XForce headers and their Catback fitted.

He is going on a drive this pm then back on the dyno, should be interesting to see what difference it makes although the temp will be 10 deg. hotter this arvo.

Interesting results;Fridaymorning at 20degs it made 72 RWKW (absolutely stock and an excellent result) and Friday arvo at 31deg it made 78RWKW with XForce headers and Town and Country Catback; Chris Dalton who prepares some of the fastest rotaries and 4's in Australia and is an experienced Dyno man reckons it would make around 80RWKW at 20 deg

The torque and power graphs mirror the stock ones but with higher results everywhere.

I will forward the chart to OKIBI to put up in the Dyno section.
