My MX5 factory CAI has black flexible tubing between the cannister and the firewall(wire ribbed fabric)
It has worn through by rubbing against the pipe on the firewall above and i want to replace it with a better, smoother pipe.
I will need to incorporate a bend as the cannister sits below the level of the hole in the firewall.
Has anyone got any suggestions about material to use and where to get it?
Will probably visit a plumbing shop to see if they have anything with an angle bend suitable in plastic but any help greatly appreciated.

PVC pipe + heatgun.
Failing that, get some mandrel bends from an exhaust shop or have them make up something.

I dont know if you have a cone filter pcmx5 but this is what it looks like. Off centre but doesn't worry me. I used a PVC collar and 4" pipe from Bunnings. The reducer is a cut down thermos flask from Go-lo or similar. All fits together nicely and then painted with bumpercoat. Costs around $40.

while we're on the topic, has anyone tried fitting a bellmouth to the end of the cowl intake tube?

yeah, I used a flared speaker port from Jaycar. But they don't sell em anymore.
Not sure if it made any difference - the trouble is you have to fit it into the cowl area... Didn't do any measured comparison between it and the straight tube.

FATTY,
I ended up with two types both flexible one cloth and one plastic.Used the plastic one,
i cut the wire out of the end that was going to the cannister to make it easier to stretch over.It is 85 mm I think.
Where did I get it? At an engineerining supply company owned by my partners family!!! Last place i thought of,in fact it was suggested to me by someone else. They had lots of different sizes so i am sure a similiar company near you could help.
cost $5.
cheers,
Peter
