Rotate opposite to the direction of rotation of the camshaft to advance.

Since you will be doing this with a timing light in your hand, it isn't hard to figure out.

If the idle speed picks up then you have advanced the timing, if it slows down you've retarded it.

For the direct answer now ... as you're leaning over the front bar, holding the CAS in your left hand and facing towards the back of the car then turning it anti-clockwise advances it, turning it clockwise retards it.
It's a good idea to mark it first across the join with the CAS and the cam cover with a felt tip pen to remember where you started from.
