Buying a new radiator this week as mine started leaking, Had my mind set on COOLING PRO from MANIA, but just came across these KOYO RACING on US EBAY.

Could get one landed for a tad more than the COOLING PRO, but just wondering if anyone here has bought one and what did they think of it?
In terms of Quality, Ease of fitment, fan holes, etc - VS the COOLING PRO we all seem to be running with.

If you can go KOYO, do it!
They make excellent radiator, made in JAPAN which always means excellent quality and fitment.
Which Koyo were you thinking of getting, as there are different models/thickness.

I would say not made in Japan ( seems to be sales only) - quite likely Indonesia or China. Is the OE radiator not good enough? It seems that Koyo do not supply OE but aftermarket- check their site. They do not look like backyarders though.

the oem top tanks go brown and tend to crack. the toptanks are plastic.
go either cooling pro, pwr or koyo - where you wouldn't have any problems with them cracking

They sound pretty good for the money, thanks for the imput guys. I've contacted a seller in the USA, and it looks like it will cost about 100 bucks more than the COOLING PRO from mania with there sale at the moment.
I would really like to give the KOYO a try but i'm leaning now towards the COOLING PRO just because money is short and i know it will fit easily.
Unless there are problems with the COOLING PRO, Ive done a search and everyone seems pretty happy with them, so i think ill swing that way.
Thanks again - This forum is so much more helpfull than others i have been a part of before.

Mine cost about $450 landed to Sydney, but thats when the dollar was strong.

Well i finished work super early today.. like 5 hours early..
Director just flew through the shoot.. so i was near Hornsby and just walked in to have a look but walked out with the COOLING PRO..

My KEVLAR hoses arrived yesterday thanks to that delightfull Group Buy, so i will be attempting the install tonight. Better work, i have to be at Duffys Forest tomorrow at 5 am

Would still have liked the KOYO but i get impatient.. haha.. my bad.
And with this CRAZY weather where getting right now, i needed to make a decision, Will post on how it turns out.

Might be a bit pedantic but if you look at the Koyo web site it looks like they are strictly an aftermarket supplier- no mention of OE supply and any manufacturer that does deliver direct to OE is usually more than happy to advertise. Their radiators may be very good- I have no idea but OE is the ultimate ball game- when you get to supply OE your systems and quality have to be the very best but of course making money is a tough call and some manufacturers just stay clear of that pressure cooker. The demand of OE is best quality, low cost and meet specification.

Mate, there might be a million and one reasons why they don't supply OEM radiators but I don't think "quality" is one of them. Maybe they (koyo) don't want to make OEM product.
Surely you can't sit there and tell us all that the plastic endtanks of OEM radiators are "the ultimate ball game". Give me a spell.
There's numerous examples of crap (ie cheap to mass produce) OEM parts on cars, like the plastic Blow off valve that came on my MPS.
Can you tell us how many Radiator manufacturers make OEM radiators for MX-5's?

I'm not too sure I agree with that...
It's business after all, they have to deal with those aspects in balance... It'd be impossible to satisfy all three
How did you go with the install Duffy?
I have a Cooling Pro too but it didn't fit as well as everyone else was saying they would...

works and looks great though

which site are you looking at?
http://www.koyorad.co.jp/english/index.html"With more than five decades of experience in the manufacture and distribution of OEM grade radiators in the aftermarket, Koyorad has established a radiator brand name synonymous to QUALITY and RELIABILITY around the world.
Our continuous effort to produce the highest OEM standard radiators spells out the difference."
like i said, they supply many Japanese brands.
Calsonic do Nissan,
Denso do Toyota,
Koyo do the most of rest, including Mazda.

So do Koyo do the radiators for 5's as well?
If so is there much cause to buy aftermarket?

i think the oem radiators are fine.. i'd only replace them if its leaking or cracking.. apart from that you won't gain anything from replacing your radiator.
