I have recently aquired a mania cold air intake off meanmx and i want to get it on asap but there is a few things holding me back.
1. i have no idea what i am doing
2. i dont have or know where to get a 3inch drill bit.
3. i dont know the exact point in the fire wall to drill
4. apparently i need a brace for where the airbox used to be as meanmx said.
does anybody know of a simple installation guide that i would be able to follow or anybody that would be kind enough to lend a helping hand in the melbourne cbd area
your help is much appreciated guys.
cheyne.

sure thing mate. just trying to track down a 3inch hole saw drill piece, they are roughly $50 at bunnings and i would really rather not buy one for a one off use.
so that narrows it down to.......... anybody have one i can borrow???

.
cheers, cheyne

it'll take longer, but for a cheap d.i.y... draw the circle you need to drill with a texta or something. if you get a normal, small drill bit. . go around the circle and drill a hole every few centimetres. then get a pair of tin snips and cut between each hole. get a file and neaten it all up. or just use a dremel cutting wheel.... there are many options just think laterally .

i got a cheapy set off ebay for $20, discount hardware stores have them too. set of holesaws from 1 inch up to 6 inch i think. not very good but if used with holesaw cutting oil it'll do the job.

true... and even tho it's not very good it only has to last long enough to do 1 cut, then he can toss it in the bin.

yeh, plus you can still keep the remaining holesaws for whatever reason

if you use a hole saw make sure to get a can of spray lube unless you have an air drill because there is A LOT of friction and it will drain the battery fast.

cheyne, it looks easy enough, but if you're not too confident in doing it yourself i'm sure there'll be a \"dodgy day\" in the next few months and we can help you install it then.

cheers w.f.
i had one on my nb and it seems to open up the breathing and power a bit, but it is noisy/growly.more noise from the cai than the exhaust.. particularly before the headers went on.
it was worth it !!ultimately however i prefer the sound of my new car without a cold air intake( but with a supercharged whine)
