No, that's the reserve light switch.
The fill plug is located further forward and a little lower than that.

It sticks out about 12mm and is square-shaped.

Hey Fundies,
What about a little hand pump?
You don't need a funnel and it'll come in useful if you want to get the diff topped up too...

You're supposed to fill it until the oil reaches the bottom of the fill plug opening and starts to overflow. Then the oil is at the correct level.

to be perfect take the fill thing off and let the overflow drain out

just like the diff its meant to take 1 L but mine doesn't take that much

i think my 6 speed barely held 2L, the 5 is much smaller. Theres alot of useful info in these forumites brains, best to let the excess drain out :)

no need to drain the lot out

just open up the fill and let the excess drain out

Oh dam I had thought the 6pd took less oil = less weight :frown:

Although we dont need oil in the turret so maybe we do weigh a bit less overall :D

The proper fill plug sits lower than the reverse switch.

Hahah not likely!! Have you pick one up before?! They are very heavy, prolly another 5-10kg more than the 5 speed.
If i could be bothered i'll weigh both out this weekend cause i have a dodgy 5 speed still laying about from the old days of drifting.

But the fill plug doesn't have any wires coming out of it. Are you looking on the correct side of the transmission? The fill plug is on the passenger side.

take a photo of both so we can clear this up, doesnt sound right. The plug you filled from/into was it square? ie you had to use an adjustable spanner not a hex or double hex to get it undone?
