Not a guide but be careful not to bend the fuel gauge sender arm. The people that installed my pump bent the arm. I was wondering why my fuel economy suddenly dropped. When the fuel gauge said 1/2 empty the tank still had 29L left.
Oh, and make sure you depressurise the fuel line first or you'll end up with fuel all over the place.
The new pump is a fair bit louder than the original. Not sure if that will be an issue for you. I added some insulation on the access cover and it doesn't bother me now.

I had the same issue, actually wrapped the pump itself in some insulation too - Clarke rubber hooked me up with suitable insulation that was chemical resistant and could live permanently in the fuel tank.
