Do you mean a popping sound? i have the same problem, and it is a mystery on why it happens...

It comes from the intake and if you have cai or pod filter, you can hear it alot more... appearently is not a problem, but no one knows why it happens....

I started hearing the same thing in the past week (only when parking it @ home - sound gets reflected off the walls, can't hear it any other time) but I only started hearing it just after installing my APEXi power intake.

My theory  (and I'm a computer nerd, not a mechanic - so don't laugh too hard if I'm mistaken  ) is:

When the power steering assist kicks in, it puts additional load on the engine, so when idling it kicks up the revs a little to compensate - the sound we hear is the throttle opening & closing rapidly, which was previously muffled by the stock air filter.

my engine makes this pop sound more when i have wider/heavier wheels on, so your theory kind of is right, thats what i have thought too, but it does't sound right...highly annoying.. :?

just an update on this, i have changed the power steering fluid, and the noised has reduced a lot, so if you have the same problem, suck out the fluid from the power steering reservoir, andfill it up with new fluid.... its a shame there is no drain plug to flush all the fluid...
