Does anyone know if its legal or not to have a pod filter not in a box under the bonnet?

I've been told that it needs to be mounted to the car

and I've been told it needs to be in a box because of fire hazard

as far as i know it just needs a mount holding it.
The queensland transport guys went through my car and only found the BOV needing to be plumbed into the intake. And my pod wasn't even mounted properly

and I heard they prefer you to have a heat-shield of some description between the engine and pod

Pure hearsay, but my understanding (and is probably wrong) is that if you have an oiled filter it must be enclosed.

Why would they be concerned with heat shields?

Dunno, I just heard it from someone... perhaps to minimise fire hazard if it's an oiled one?

well i got a pod in mine :D its a SAAS brand which I'm pretty sure isn't one of those oil type filters cause it doesn't feel oily

its mounted to the body

has a heat shield and i'm surprise it works

i've got an infrared temp thing and i took a temp reading on the outside of the shield and the inside (where the pod is) and its lower
