I have been recommended this product to help with cooling. does anyone here use it. if so is it worth trying?

I havn't used it myself but have heard good things about it.

I used it. It really cleaned out my coolant system and left the over flow bottle covered in gunk.

I use it and have used it on other cars. Never had any problems while using it so I reckon it works! I know a few people who it has helped them with cooling issues in their race cars.

Very effective from all accounts. All the serious track boys run it in the GT-R/EVO fraternity with great results.

it is often banned in the sup regs of race meetings as it is really, really slippery if it leaks onto the track or your tyres (much more so than coolant). It does work well, but it is often only used as a band aid fix for a deeper problem (partially blocked radiator or too small a radiator). Ten Tenths coolant from Penrite is the track friendly coolant to use.

I have a small baby civic radiator in my mx5 and with the 13b turbo and no intercooler (running methanol) at the drags the water was going to 160deg F. After a lot of runs the hottest the car got was 180deg F . That was with distilled water and water wetter.

In my old setup with the mx5 radiator and coolant I was seeing 200deg F +

any truth that water wetter = dishwashing liquid?

water wetter and a radiator cowl made a big difference to my coolant temps on the racetrack. with just those 2 mods i went from very hot / overheating to mildly hot / normal (with heater on full blast) .

This is my understanding.

Its kinda true water wetter lowers surface tension, like soap, but we dont need the bubbles.

It just helps to let the liquid move around better and allows the bubbles to 'bleed'. (Boiling liquids introduces air and air does not conduct heat as well as water)

Its not there to increase the boiling point usually impurites retard the effectivenss of water as a coolant. (Thus some people run with less anti freze and more water)

Hope not dishwashing liquid is corrosive, water wetter is supposed to be a corrosion inhibitor. I would expect dishwashing liquid would foam up as it is pumped around the engine, I have not seen that happen when using it water wetter.

So where do you get Water Wetter? Is it available from Supercheap, Autopro, Auto1, Repco etc?

Would you recommend it on a non-race car application, say on my factory standard NB8B?

Cant remember the price (not that expensive) and you only change coolant once a year.
