stock head gasket thickness?

just wondering what the stock head gasket thickness is? and if I was to change it to a 0.8mm one would the compression ratio go to in a nb8a 9.5comp motor?

true.......we once tried decompressing a holden 6 we'd turboed by using 3 repco gaskets.........that ended in spectacular fashion..........LOL :lol: :lol:

the mazda factory gasket i was given (got from mazda spares) looks like its about 1mm thick. so your only going .02 of a mm which is .00078\" i hear a 0.020\" head shave makes a .5 comp increase so yeah.. not going to be huge gains. ill get a Micrometer from work and measure the standard one properly tonight if i remember.

It's popular to lower comp through using decompression plates and or thick gaslets, but I've never heard of trying a thin gasket to increase comp.

I'd be a bit owrried about the quality of seal in a gasket thin enough to make a difference.

its toda part so i'm not worried about quality. doing it to get a bit more power from a supercharged application. I have not decided to do it yet but just checking out the details.

Why not turf the gasket all together and get the head and block O ringed?
You can then run high boost and not worry about blowing head gaskets.

In my nefarious youth, I had a turbocharged Commodore that kept blowing head gaskets because I wanted to run high boost (21 lbs), and not so low compression.
Got the head and block O ringed, and never had a problem with it ever again.

Mind you, my transmission expert and me were unable to make any Turbo-Hydramatic 400 box last more than a few months, but that's another story.

what do you think that would be worth? also how much clearance is there with the valves?

wouldn't that be a problem because of alloy head and iron block?
