Oil Filters

Hi guys,
Picked up a genuine oil filter for my NA8 from Mazda today. I went to change it tonight and noticed the one I got is smaller than the one on the car. The part number is B6Y1-14-302AUS and I was concerned that perhaps I had been given one for the 1.6?
Can anyone confirm if this is the right part or if the oil filters are the same for either the 1.6 or 1.8.
Cheers Paul.

There are 2 different size filters, the smaller ones are technically for various Mazda's and Ford, the bigger ones are for various Hondas, but they are 100% compatible.
Since I found out, I have always used the bigger ones. I figure the bigger the filter, the bigger the filtering medium, the faster/easier the flow.

Whats the part number for the larger Honda filter? What's the diameter?

Tried looking it up on the Valvoline website.... what a sh%t site that is!
From memory, Z79A Ryco, and VO7 Valvoline.
Definitely PL14459 PureOne
I'll double check at an auto store today for ya Dave, but if you beat me to one, then look up the part# for a mid-late 90's Honda Integra.
Dimensions are 80mm wide, 75mm tall.
Considerably bigger than the other one.

The bigger filter's part#'s are\"
Valvoline = VO5
Ryco = Z79A
PureOne = PL14459
Wun, Ryco# Z436 is for the smaller filter.

I'm lost I thought that they are both the same size??? Or at least they look the same size???
Are these the small ones, does that mean I have to change the oil filter more often?

Wun: yes, they are the smaller ones. And no, it does not mean you have to change it more often.
SMK: short answer is most Mazda passenger cars (but probably not bigger than 626's), as well as most Fords.
