Quick Power Steering Question

Not sure if this belongs in this section or electrical, anyhow...
Does anyone know what the little wire that goes to the top of the power steering pump on the NA6 does. Just curious as mine broke off last week and I cannot say I have noticed anything different.
Hoping it's not really important...
