Can anyone recommend places (and prices) to get DBA or Brembo rotors?
Standard ones should be about $100 each? (Autobarn) no?

My DBA slotteds were $140ea from Repco last year. They seem fine and work much better than unslotted. Don't get cross-drilled ones, they are liable to crack around the drill holes.

ebay has RBA ones for a fair bit less than that. Don't know what quality they are.

Damn it ... someone says get slotted and not drilled, another says drilled not slotted .... aaargh! Henceforth I might just chicken out and get standard ones.

I would probably get slotted just to be one the safe side. They wear out break pads a bit faster I here.

I think the idea is that cross drilling weakens the rotor and even DBA doesnt recomend you use their drilled rotors for the track.

I thought you were going to remove your rotors and polish them for free?

Slots are safe and offer better braking in the wet as they shear off the water. Plus they will clean off the pad when they gas at very high track temperatures. They won't weaken the rotor and also act as a wear indicator. I've never heard of a negative to slots. Cross-drilling is great for a street car in wet weather but do weaken the rotor. Not track recommended at all.

Slotted DBA 4000 series for track work, standard mazda ones for everything else. Drilled holes are bling. That is all.

A little birdie or camel told me that the slotted DBAs can squeak. But I agree, the yay's outweigh the nay's, so they are definitely considered.

I just looked at the latest Supercheap catalog and they have slotted DBAs for $104 each, but it states store stock only.
And wun ... the pads I bought are top-shelf items, so I thought I may as well upgrade the rotors. It's only money after all right?

Rotors don't sqeak - thats a crock. Poorly bedded in pads or pads without anti rattle clips will sqeak. I've been using them on the MX5 for 8 years are never, ever had a problem with them.

Are you getting the 4000 series slotted for only 104 bucks? (Is there a GB im missing here?) I thought the normal ones were about 104 bucks!

I dont think the slots are a wear indicator:

The DBA Street Series slots are tailored to each rotor type, but typically they are about 1.5mm deep x 3mm wide. By the time the rotor has reached ‘minimum thickness’ (we are careful to point out that the slots are not intended as a wear indicator), there is not much slot left. To make them deeper would risk weakening the rotor.\"

In contrast, with a cross drilled rotor the holes remain effective in for the whole life of the disc.

I think DBA make an \"XS\" slotted and cross drilled in the 4000 series. I might consider them if they had less holes than an ordinary drilled rotor (less holes to worry about).

Cheapest I've seen for the DBA4000's was Mx5mania at $190. That what's listed for the 270mm NB8B fronts though.

$260 each for the NC at Autobarn.
They can stay there for a while at that price.

The $104 must be \"standard\" slotted. Not the fancy shmancy ones.
That is good enough for me as its 80% road and 20% track dríven.

Any merit in upgrading my NA8 rotors and calipers to larger NB's?

I have some DBA4000's for the NB8b on order from autobarn for $200ea.. remember they will go down to near cost if you can show them somewhere selling it cheaper. Also got an autotechnica 6 point harness on order for $195(Was over $250 in the book), Sparco Tec for $675(was over $700 I can't remember exactly) and rails for $90($115 book) I think... all quite a bit down from the initial quotes when they checked in the book and saves me postage from all the sydney sites. I think the initial quote for the NB8B ones were $240 and they were marked as \"SP turbo front rotors\" for the 270mm. Consider it next time your in there. I actually used two websites to for price matching, they have ADSL connections in the stores.

Rotors I've found easy to get.... brake pads on the other hand. DS2500's are surprisingly elusive for reasonable prices.

could get some standard rotors & have them custom slotted in pretty designs
