Warwick Gates in W.A. has one of MX-5 Racing's old NA race cars with quads.

I think he's running one of the \"plug in\" Wolfs.

any piggy back system should be able to run them - wolf, microtech etc. I would base the decision on your prefered tuners prefered computer.

I thought Warwick's was an NA8. Whatever, it's bloody quick, nice little Elise burner. The ECU I saw on it was a no-name mystery box bouncing around the floor.

Also Black & Tan has quads on an NA8 with a Wolf - eventually tuned by Mania.

I had a NA6 and NA8 with quads...both ran Microtech...did the job very well, but I'm sure Wolf or Haltec would do it as well...

Also had a NA8 which ran quads with Motec...comes down to how much you want to spend on a ECU.

I have an old Hot4's with an NA6 that is running shinny quads and some sort of aftermarket EMS.

I can dig it up and take photos of the article if you like.

For anyone that may know it, it's a Sunburst/Malibu Yellow one with some form of behind-the-seat roll-bar. Either in Sydney, Adelaide or Melbourne (but this was about 7+ years ago).
Pretty average car as the article was only showing off the quad system.

How reliable is quads for daily?

There seems to be plenty of ITB kit from US with EMS these days.
I've been contemplating quads as well, sure turbo makes more power...but quads sounds hmmm :)

Also forgot there's James' blue NA in the MX5Vic motorsport group, unregistered with quads, built (like Warwick's) in Japan and imported. It's entered at PI this Sunday. Not sure if NA6 or NA8, but I think NA6.

just a side issue

if a BOV works by telling the difference between the pressure of the intake manifold and intake piping

if you have quad throttle bodies on a turbo how would you install a BOV?

I ran a 20v with quads (haltech) in my mr2 as a daily for a couple of years. The only thing I had to do was clean them every 6 months or so to keep the idle right.

To run a BOV with quads is easy. You get your manifold pressure from your equalizer chamber. The same place you get vacume for the brake booster,
IAC if your running one. This chamber is connected to all intake runners to ensure that each cylinder gets the same amount of air.

Does fuel economy significantly drop with quads installed?

I'm pondering whether or not to install quads for my daily...
