Coil pack. General service-life question.

What is the service life of coil packs for NA and NB?
For those that have replaced them with new items, what, where, how much? Bosch doesn't list a part for NA8 onward

Any difference in performance/driveability?

I did a whole lot of reading on this a couple of years ago for my Subaru.
The general impression was that all coilpacks start to deteriorate after around 80-100k. In my case I'd noticed fuel consumption and pick up sliding downward from 100kkm until it started to cut out completely on long climbs at 160kkm. I replaced the pack and got about 20% improvement in fuel and power immediately. It was like getting a new engine.

thanks blue.
My car has done 130k+ (got it with 85k on the clock 8 years ago) and it's mechanically very sound.
I get a little paranoid at times. I have replaced every serviceable item now, and starting to think about major bits.
Coils are expensive! and I'm spewin that Bosch doesn't have a part.
Might have to sell a kidney and buy Splitfire Di's ... I feel another thread comin'

I checked themout with Perfectrun a while back and the Spifire ones were around$450 in Aus from memory,so you may only have to sell half a kidney!!

Dead thread kula.
You guys aren't using the Arkham's Razor theory? \"the simplest explanation is probably the most correct\", ie. have you considered just upgrading to the Splitfire Di individual coil-pack thingys?
It's pricey (cheapest I found was $386USD), but it is Splitfire after all, and no mods.

This is the thread:
http://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12704I'm tempted to resurrect my old MSD DIS-2 with a nice set of coils. I'll have to find something suitable to drive with them, though.
1red5: ????
Do you mean Occam's Razor?
