NA6 Clutch into NA8?

A friend made this statement the other day and I was curious... but couldn't find it using search.
Can an NA6 clutch be fitted to an NA8?
He said it is a smaller unit, but some prefer the NA6 one as it is lighter?

What's the go? Straight swap?

Yes it can be done, but you need the 1.6 flywheel as well (that's where the weight benefit comes from - but as well as mass, the fact that it's smaller diameter is what really helps with the inertia)

Of course, the clutch is smaller diameter also, which means it needs more clamping pressure for the same torque capacity. OK for racers who don't mind a heavy pedal... a standard 1.6 pressure plate would be marginal on a 1.8 though.

Matty, so the 1.6 clutch plate and pressure plate is interchangeable with the 1.8, as in it bolts straight in, no mods at all?
Please explain what you mean by, \"... a standard 1.6 pressure plate would be marginal on a 1.8 though.\" Slightly inadequate clamping force?
