NA6 Brakes + pads (normal? slotted? crossdrilled? both?)

Im not to sure where brake stuff goes so hopefully ive got the right section.

Im soon due for my brakes to be redone. One of my front disks has a nice grove carved out due to a rock or something under the pad so ill be needing new front disks. They're beyond grinding them flat. Ive got a couple of questions before i jump into this one.

Im not looking at upgrading to NB brakes just yet due to a lack of the folding stuff.

1) Are there any noticable advantages to having NA6 sized slotted or crossdrilled (or both) rotors over the standard rotors? If yes, any recommendations as to which rotors i should go for?

2) Im going to be needing new pads all round. I have incredibly white wheels and am after pads which are better than the standard pads while keeping dust levels to a minimum. At the moment, im cleaning my wheels every 2 days or so. (im not sure hwat pads ive got atm, they were there when i got it) Im after a pad which offers good breaking, minimal fade and low dust levels.

- grooves/slots and cross-drilled are only really advantageous if you take it to the track regularly.
- grooves/slots are good for road use in that they help disperse dirt and water
- cross drilling is too extreme for road use, but if you do decide to get a set, then get it from a reputable seller/brand as they can form cracks under heavy load, ie. panic stop
- pads: Bendix Ultimate apparently produce the least dust out of several popular \"performance\" pad

Do you know about the NA8 conversion? Putting the bigger discs, and associated calipers etc, from an NA8 onto your NA6.

DBA are a very popular / reputable brand for slotted na6 rotors. i upgraded to these and a set of bendix ultimate pads and they feel a fair bit bitier now than the stock set up ever did. they should resist brake fade for longer too.

the pads do seem a bit dustier than the oem ones tho. altho that could also be because of the slots in the rotors. i would think that the dba's with oem pads would still be a good set up. the oem pads are pretty good, really.

there are other brands of slotted's that are cheaper, ask fattima where he got his, they were definately a bit cheaper than the DBA ones. there is also RBA ? i think, which you can buy on ebay.

Ultimates are/have been available for the 1600 size.

Either that or my car has been upgraded to something which looks like, is the same size as, and cunningly takes the NA6 pad size in the Ultimate range.

Mania still lists them on their site, $155 a set.

i just put a set of dba slotted rotors and bendix ultimates on all 4s, on my NA6. they work a treat and once heated up a bit they pull up very well compared to the stock brakes.

the ultimates are available for the 1600 both front and rear.
