Stones in muffler?

Hi guys,
I recently bought an SMB catback off black max which is yet to be installed. After lifting up the muffler (not a straight through muffler), there appears to be some clinking going on inside of there which I suspect are stones or little rocks or pebbles. Is there a way to remove these? Or is there no point? Will I be able to hear these little stones clinking around whilst driving/make a rattling sound? And more importantly, will it affect the performance of my 5/damage the muffler in the long run?
Any help would be muchly appreciated.

sliq.

If that is the cat converter you're talking about, it indicates that it has started to fall to bits internally. Loose ceramic bits or something.

Loose baffle or a bit of cat converter got into it then would be my guess.

Perhas some welds may have gotten dislodged in the casing, cause if there is something in the actual exhaust path, then jiggling it around, flipping it over and over, etc. would eventually get it out.
Take it back.

Hei Mike,
If its like tricking sound, nothing too heavy or loud then its ok. Its happens a lot with any seconhand muffler. Its mainly due to the carbon buildup and some of it had cristalized and fallen into chunks.
Like I said, it should sounds like light trickling...nothing heavy like pebbles inside it.

It's parts of the cat still inside your exhaust. Mine had failed and I got it replaced however the exhaust shop left some of it still in the exhuast pipework.
