Does anyone know what the part number is for the short nose crank bolt? I beleive I have been supplied the larger bolt however I could be wrong! Diameter seems to indicate larger bolt however overall length is not the same as either bolt (referring to Lance Schall's guide)

I replaced my timing belt and the crank bolt recently. The part number for a SNC bolt is B63011406C. Price is $14.39+GST. It's a good idea to replace the woodruff key too, part no. B63011317A for $6.12+GST.

If your old bolt has been loctited previously, it may be a little difficult to remove from the crank. Take your time, don't rush it in case you snap it. Spray some WD40 and back it in and out repeatedly will take the sucker out safely. Clean the thread in the crank with solvent, and you're all set to reinstall the new bolt.

Make sure you apply Loctite 243, the blue stuff on the crank bolt on installation and torque to 90 foot pounds. I will also advise you to fabricate two metal strips to hold the crank shaft while you tighten the bolt. Attach each metal strip to two of the crank pulley screw holes and the aircond compressor bolt. That will prevent winding up the drive drain if you get someone to step on the brake pedal while in fifth gear. Winding up the drive train will give you inaccurate torque reading.

I will also replace my bolt every 20,000km as an insurance against keyway wear.
