Somethings died

Well I picked the clubman up on wednesday with its new motor (completely stock), but last night, it decided to have a hissy fit. The car refused to accellerate, so i put the clutch in, engine instantly died, into 4th, clutch out, revs came up, still wouldnt accellerate, so I pulled up (but unfortunately for me, in the right hand lane of a busy road, thankfully it was just after midnight). Popped the bonnet, and could smell hot oil.
Tried cranking it over a few times, but nothing. After about 1.5 hrs of sitting in the car, the tow NRMA organised showed up. After putting the car on the tow truck, we noticed a large(ish) patch of oil on the road.....
Its somehow dumped all of its engine oil, so I got it towed to mania. I'll be heading off shortly to go find out what the f@#k has happened to it. After the SE getting stolen, and the clubman being returned to standard but still breaking, I'm really not wanting to get another MX5

Fuzz you sound pretty cheesed off. Keep your chin up mate and take it easy.
I would hate for you to lose your ideals on the MX5 cause of your recent run of rotten-luck.
Nothing can stop sh#t from happening, it's just the way of the world.
Hopefully the Clubman just had a bad transplant.
Was the shop/mechanic someone reputable? and someone who knows MX5s?
Keep the faith brother.

Indeed. Shouldn't be costing you at all.
How far did you get before it started running on no oil?

Youve had some real bad luck here.
The problem isnt unique to MX5s....when you fark around modding things then you have to expect hassles. Ive felt like throwing the towel in a few times too! What you need to do is get the Clubman running and then get down to Wakefield ASAP.......Then you will be reminded why you love MX5s.

Yes, the workshop is a reputable one, those who know me will know who I'm talking about. The engine was a complete rebuild, back to stock standard, as I was gonna sell the car. It wasnt until I stopped that it dumped it oil. Went to the workshop today, and one of the camshafts isnt turning....they're gonna call me either today or tomorrow when they work out what the problem is.
I'm not gonna keep the clubman, because things keep on breaking with it. I'd hit up wakefield again, but without a turbo, the thing is too slow for my liking. If I do get another MX5, it'd be a NB8B. I'd still modify it (ie exhaust, IRTBs, cams, ECU etc), but I wouldnt go turbo. Dont get me wrong, the clubman (when it was turbo) and the SE (to an extent) were damn good fun, but the legalities ended it unfortunately

Man that is bad news.
Did you give the car a good look over after the engine was put back in?
A lot of oil loss doesn't sound good, probably a rod let go if the engine was rebuilt.
Hopefully it is an easy and speedy repair.

Hopefully it wasn't something basic like a loose oil pan plug or oil filter.
