can o worms.
there are a large amount of options. it really depends on your budget and how handy you are. you could get something like a greddy emange blue or ultimate. they are both pretty cheap and you could probably install and tune your self if you think you would be able to. keep in mind you would need a wide band o2 sensor to do it properly. or you would do the build your own ecu (megasquirt from memory) - similar deal.
then you move into the piggy back systems.
microtech
haltech
motec
xede
wolf
etc.
these will cost a bit more (motec a lot more) but will probably give you a better result - espcially if you plan on going forced induction or heavily modifying your car. i would get a profesional to tune these - that will cost a bit too. The bill for my xede from chiptorque was just over 2 grand. that said it is a great tune and runs like a factory car but much much harder.
then you move into full standalone ecu's. pretty much the same brands as the piggy backs but will cost a fair bit more - especial with sensor/loom replacements. these will not do some of the things that the stock ecu does as well but if outright hp is your goal and you dont care about the idle then this is the go. but cost will be probably double.
