Try here and more info here.

From the second thread:

I wrote:At the moment your turbo takes the boost reading for the actuator from the turbo side of the intercooler piping. This means that after the boost drop of the intercooler the manifold does not see the boost level for which the actuator is set.

By putting in a tee piece in a vac line from the manifold you can get the boost reading after the intercooler - and after the pressure drop. This reading will be 1-2 PSI lower than before the intercooler, so won't open the actuator until later. You are effectively upping the boost by 1-2 PSI, or whatever the pressure loss is across the intercooler. You are still technically running "stock boost" because you have not tampered with the actuator.

I hope that makes sense???

Go on, buy one! 8)

 :P I was on my way to look at mine within hours of it appearing here on the forum. Despite having to drive to Canberra to see it  Left a deposit with Tim's good lady and went back by train several days later to pick it up. The top down drive (in the rain) home again only cemented my love for the car. Don't hesitate Ron - there's always someone looking for a bargain.

You wont believe this but I actually have your car set as my desktop background .
Also, love the 1st black SP in the SP owners list thread.

157Kws for 2-bucks! ...are you kidding me? It's a hoax! ...I have it on good authority it only delivers 155Kws. ...if that! ...So what's the benefit?

 @ Darby.

To be fair, not many owners see 157rwKW with the $2 mod. I think the gain is usually much more modest than that, but it does turn 125rwKW into 135rwKW IIRC.

As Darby said; why bother, I'd rather spend the $2 on a cheeseburger.  :P

Why bother?
Because it's the best low-cost performance mod you can make to an SP!

It really makes a difference that you can feel from the seat of your pants, however, there are a couple of slight downsides.
1. Your fuel consumption will go up, because you're revelling in the extra power and so you keep your foot down more often :D
2. It can make feathering the throttle, while under boost, a bit jerkier than it is standard. :frown:

All you are doing is changing where the car gets its boost reading from.
Instead of pre-intercooler, it will read post intercooler.
Simple.

Although i havent done the mod yet, i did do a similar mod on my 2002 S15 when i bought it... the piping contained restricters... i went to repco, the guy even fitted the new hose for me... 7 pound went to 9ish... and the car no longer sat besides Integra Type R's :P

you can feel the difference straight away without the dyno. :D

The amount of power increase will depend on the efficiency (or inefficiency) of your intercooler and pipework. If the guy that built your SP got everything lined up right then the power increase wont be quite as large as one where the bits dont quite fit together properly. So someone like Casey with a perfect SP didn't notice quite the same power increase as a few of the other guys.

If you decide to go ahead with the mod keep an ear out for pinging as you are increasing the boost without changing the fueling. If your car is prone to pinging like my car was then it may not work for you like it didn't work for me.

Just out of interest how does a standard SP and a $2.50 modded SP compare to a WRX in acceleration.

Careful... Marvin will get a swelled head  Caedrus' car is beautiful, as is Garry's and Fredbare's. I'd love to have bought a black one, but I really wouldn't want to wash it twice a day
