Hi guys,

I have got the opportunity to buy a set of cams for my Clubman, and I would just like to have a few opinions on their spec.

They are 260° Duration on Intake and Exhaust, with a 9.5mm lift. Im also looking at ordering a set of adjustable cam gears, but I dont know if they are worth it or not.

My car is a daily driver, that will see the occasional Deca/Motokhana days. I have a Jaycar DFA fitted to the car, so I will be able to adjust the air/fuel ratio when they have been installed.

I was told the cams are fine to go into a standard BP head, and run off the standard computer. I just need some opionions on them.

Any help would be great.

I have a set of adjustable cam gears you can buy for a nominal price

The grind sounds about right for a mild-tune result on a nat-asp engine. They are only a little wilder than 252/254 Tomeis (which have the same lift), so should be a really nice balance between torque and power and it's not so wild that it won't idle, but there will be a definite kick point at 5000rpm and no letup in the power until you bang against the limiter.

Yes it should run on the stock ecu (the Tomeis certainly do) and I reckon you don't need cam gears.

Only caveat I would add is that to get 9.5mm of lift, the base circle of the cam has to be made smaller (according to the Tomei blurb) so that the \"stroke\" (for lack of a better word) of the cam isn't so big that it clobbers the lifter base. But if they are saying that it'll slot into a stock head just fine then I guess it's orrite

where are you sourcing your cams from g_c?
I have contacted Tighe, Crow, Crane, Camtech and none of them have NA8 cams, and if they do, they want close to $1000 for them.

After a few emails back n forth, they are really knowledgeable about cams, ie. I asked if they had a \"stage 4\" for NA8 and the said they are making a special batch and the profiles they have are as aggressive as it gets or else the stock springs go into \"spring bind\" as their stage 4 cams are meant to rev to just past 8,000RPMs/
How much you buying yours for? At the current exchange rate, Integral's Stage 3&4 cams works out to be $785 AUD landed.

Babalouie.... anyone ...., do you know if cam gears for B6 and NA8's-BP are exactly the same? I know the cams are different in lenght, but what about the ends, where it attaches to the cam gears?

Sort of. NA8 needs different cam gears on IN and EX, but NA6 uses the NA8 EX cam gear on both cams.

I have HKS 264 cams and they work fine on the stock NA6 ECU.

Try your new cams without the adjustable gears - if properly ground, they won't need to be adjusted at all for an otherwise stock engine.

And a slight correction.....

NA6 uses the NA8 EX cam gear on both cams

What Babs actually meant was that the NA6 uses the same profile on both cams.

Cams for the BP donk (Nx8y) won't physically fit the B6 (NA6z) engine at all.
